Another Day Another Story

These are good questions that celebrities should ask themselves when they are about to do drugs. Daisy de la Hoya a VH1 star had to be rushed to the hospital due to an over dosage of drugs. After she was treated, a press release came out in Access Hollywood that there were no drugs involved she was just exhausted.
How many people honestly believe that story? It is insane as to how many celebrities take advantage of the power they have. This link shows how some drug abusers are treated but celebrities I am sure even in rehab receive special treatment. (image from here)

Inappropriate Much?

many celebrities who were good role
models but at the same time, you have seen
that there are many celebrities out there
who are bad role models.
Miss California is definitely a role
model out there and many people
This is definitely inappropriate due
Drug Abuse!!!

inappropriate---->
Drug abuse is a serious issue and many celebrities don’t notice that they are role models for kids and adults out there. Unlike celebrities, many people do not have money to go to places that will rehabilitate them so that is also a downside. This link is also a helpful way to stop drug abuse. (image frome here)

Going Green!!!

In addition, as another blogger wrote about in his blog called, Global Warming, the price is right a very famous game show also celebrated Earth Day by making all its prizes eco-friendly. This sets a good example for many people and hopefully with the help of celebrities people will help take care of our environment.
Celebrity Role-Models

My little sister is 6 and if you walk into her room there are pictures of Zac Efron everywhere. She is like his number one fan so of course when this movie came out she was dying to se
e it. The day it came out she begged and begged me to take her, so I did. She wore her High School Musical shirt and was so excited to see Zac in the movie. As the movie started, I figured that it was just another kid’s movie but boy was I wrong. It started off looking and sounding like High School Musical but as it continued it turned into such an inappropriate movie for my sister. There were scenes where Zac would make out with different girls and also scenes where they talked about condom use and many other sexual related topics. I felt that movie was advertised to many of the young children and it was definitely not appropriate for them. The movie theatre was actually full of kids and walking out many parents were a little disturbed. (image from here)The Spokesman Review also critics the movie and explains how it did use sex terms that does not relate to children but relates to teens. As a celebrity, Zac Efron knows that his following is mainly young girls and I believe that he should have thought about his role in the movie and the effect it would have on the children watching it.
Break-Ups 3

I’m pretty sure that everyone has had their hearts broken once in their life but are celebrities immune to this? Definitely not, recently we have heard the rumors of a split between Lindsey Lohan and her girlfriend Samantha Rohen and personally, it seems like Lindsey’s heart is definitely broken. (image from here) Recently, Lindsey had an interview with Ellen DeGeneres where she poured her heart out and explained that she is still in love with Samantha. So how do celebrities get over a breakup? Probably the same way we do. Listed below are some ways to get over a breakup from Ivillage:
- Get it all out
- Focus on today

- Think positively
- Don't Stay Bitter
- Don't Lose Faith
- Have No Fear
- Do Something New
- Find some words of wisdom -- and live by them
In my opinion, breakups are hard but what can you do they happen all you can do is follow the list above and have some chocolate and you will be back to normal.{image from here}

Divorce!!! Are you Next??

A fellow classmate writes about divorces in her weekly blog called “Divorce Within the Family.” She explains the ups and downs of divorce and how many families cope during this time. Also, she talks about legal issues that occur after a divorce like custody and the necessary arrangement of money. This is a serious issue; divorce is definitely taking over most marriage couples.

"Do you like this planet that we live on? Is this an awesome place to live or what?," was the words of Leonardo DiCaprio to many young children at the Kids Choice Awards. US Magazine writes about how he inspired many to start recycling and taking care of the environment. He speaks about many problems that have affected us; one in particular is global warming. A classmate is doing his weekly blogs on global warming and I found his blog called “People are Dying from This” very interesting. He speaks about animals being affected by global warming and how people are actually dying from this.
OUR ENVIRONMENT

Celebrities have an impact on soceity, therefore they should be the ones to help persuade others to be eco-friendly. Pamela Anderson, an actress and model, has just launched an eco-friendly clothing line, states Ok Magazine. She plans on making a fashion line that willl help not destroy our environment.
In my opinion, people need to start recycleing and they need to be more careful with how often they use there cars or anything else that can cause pollutents. Our environment is our home so take care of it.

Stalkers!!
Shawn was lucky, at the first attempt the stalker was put in jail. In an article, called Stalker at Bus Stop, it talks about how some people are being stalked and it gets as bad as they just want the person dead. It explains how a 13 yr old girl was walking to the bus stop were a man drove by and tried to get her to go into the car with him the girl pulled back and continued on her way to the bus stop. She went to the police and they caught the guy the next day. Unlike the celebrity, it took them a day to find the stalker, if she was famous, in my opinion I believe that the man would have been found faster. Unfortunately, that’s just the type of society we live in were the rich and famous come first even in issues as serious as this. (image from here)

Should he be punished?? NO!!

If you tell anyone the Chris Brown/Rihanna situation wit
hout using any names, they will surely tell you that Rihanna was a victim in the situation, leaving Chris to be the abuser.(image from here) Unfortunately, in today’s society the social status and fame of a celebrity can manipulate many fans to say that Chris Brown was the victim and Rihanna is lying. What is our world coming to when a smart young girl says that because she is a fan of Chris Brown?
is Brown, the writer explains how important it is for a women to realize how much they are worth and he directs attention to Chris Brown telling him ways that will help this incident never occur again. Take a look maybe his words will move you! (image taken from here)Thursday, March 19, 2009
SOCIAL NETWORKING: FROM OBAMA TO BRITNEY SPEARS!!
Facebook and Myspace watch out because theirs a new social network that’s taking over. Twitter a new networking page like the other two but just a newer updated version seems to be taking society as fast as facebook and myspace did. Everyone from Barack Obama to Britney Spears to many other celebrities are on Twitter What do I think of this? Celebrities definately help keep the trend and definately advertise the sites, but to me, its no surprise that there is another social network out there, in about a year there would probably be another one. The fact that we have so many social networks is a good thing for me. I believe it helps people stay in touch with each other and updated with everyone’s doing. Some people might use this negatively and that’s were we have our problems. People may get addicted or even cyperbullies can arise. The way that the internet was being abused was shown in this video "Growing Up Online" which I blogged about previously. This is were society needs to step up and teach kids the risks of using the internet and being on these kinds of websites. Therefore, as long as you do not make these sites your main priority in life there is no harm in them. What is a society without many to many socializing?

ONE LAPTOP PER CHILD

This concept is interesting but at the same time very risky because in my opinion children shouldn’t be accessed to a computer at such a young age. What is becoming of our world? We are so technology driven that we are willing to waste money to give each child a laptop that they might even destroy. This idea seems kind of absurd to me.

Growing Up Online
Many adults don’t know what the latest technology and styles are so some of the new things scare them because they are very un-educated when it comes down to it. Professor Daniels states in her blog, “There have been all sorts of moral panics, often characterized by older adults reacting to fads and trends enjoyed by younger people.” I definitely agree with this, the new fads and trends cause the adults to panic because they don’t know how to deal with the situation.
domestic abuse..how the world reacts?
(image taken from flickr)Becky Lee has written a blog about the effect domestic abuse can have in one’s life and it is definitely not something to tamper with. In her blog called, The Dangerous Liaison between Rihanna and Chris Brown, she states, “The Rihanna and Brown incident should be seen as a high-profile testament to a culture of unhealthy relationships embedded in our society. Youth dating violence occurs because education is lacking, prevention is an afterthought and a lack of visible role models who have successfully broken the domestic violence cycle. Rihanna is part of the statistic that one in three women will experience relationship abuse. We, as a global community, have not provided young people with the information to think with emotional clarity and choose safety.” Rihanna’s decision to get back with Chris Brown sets a bad example for many youths out there that are in abusive relationships. Society has to deal with the fact that this one celebrity choose to do this and move on from it but many young people should know that once the abuser abuses you it leaves room for it to happen again.

CAN THEY GET ANY WORSE?
WHOSE YOUR ROLE MODEL??
People don’t see that celebrity role models do change kid’s perspectives on things and socially this is an issue we have to adjust. If a child sees his role model using steroids, he might grow up to use steroids as well. People need to see how important celebrities can affect our lives.
A single mother blogs about how John Cena has also helped her son. In her blog called, Celebrity Role Models, she explains how she believes John Cena is an excellent role model for her son. She states, “There aren’t many great celebrity role models that I want my son admiring. However, of the handful I can count to be good role models, John Cena would top the list. He is probably one of the best role models I have seen in years. He is such a hard worker, and in every way you look at it...he fits the name perfectly.” I believe this is advancement in our society because who knew all these celebrities would be so bad for children everywhere.
